I am excited to share that as of August 2025, I have officially begun my new position as Assistant Professor in the School of Biological Sciences and Curator of Recent Invertebrates at the Sam Noble Museum, University of Oklahoma. This marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter where I will continue exploring arachnid biodiversity, evolution, and ecology, while building the De Miranda Lab here at OU.

As part of this new journey, I am recruiting both graduate students (starting Fall 2026) and undergraduate students at OU who are eager to gain experience in research. Students in my lab will have opportunities to work on projects involving fieldwork, natural history collections, molecular biology, and bioinformatics, while developing strong skills in evolutionary biology and biodiversity science.

Graduate Applications
Students apply through the University of Oklahoma’s online Graduate Application portal. As part of your application, you will need to provide:
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV/Resume)
  • Personal Statement: Address the following points:
    1. Area(s) of specialization you would like to pursue.
    2. Previous research experience and what you found most interesting.
    3. An accomplishment you are proud of and how you achieved it.
    4. Your career goals.
    5. Why OU Biology and the De Miranda Lab are a good fit for you.
  • Official Transcripts.
  • Three Letters of Reference.
  • English Proficiency Scores (if applicable).

Undergraduates at OU

If you are an undergraduate student at OU and are interested in research experience, please reach out! The lab will offer opportunities to assist with ongoing projects, learn molecular and bioinformatics techniques, and contribute to biodiversity research.

Get in Touch

If you are interested in joining the lab, send me an email with your CV and a short description of your research interests ([email protected]). I’m happy to answer questions and discuss potential projects.

I look forward to building a vibrant team of undergraduate and graduate students here at OU!
